Die Libellenvielefalt im Naturbad Gargazon

dragonflies ...

Our loyal regulars

The lush banks of our natural pool are home to dragonflies and other small creatures. So far we have observed 10 different specimen of dragonflies, from small to big: the Common Dragonfly, the Sympetrum Fonscolombi and Sympetrum Vulgatum, the Coenagrion Puella and Enallagma Cyathigerum, the Ischnura Elegans, the Sympetrum Danae and Sympetrum Striolatum, the Anax Imperator and Anax Parthenope, the Crocothemis Erythraea and the Cordulia Aenea. They catch flies, bask in the sun and breed…

Dragonflies are totally harmless, they don’t sting!

Project „Dragonflies of the Adige valley bottom”

Over the last few seasons our project „Dragonflies of the Adige valley bottom” has closely observed and studied the vast community of dragonflies that lives in the natural bath of Gargazzone. A project run by working group Libella in collaboration with the Aslago cultural and recreational association, supported by the “Fondo del Paesaggio” of the Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano (autonomous province of Bolzano) and the “Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano” foundation. Here you can download a sample of the most beautiful specimens:
