The First Public Natural Bathing Ponds in Western South Tyrol
Since May of 2010, the first natural bathing ponds in the western half of South Tyrol have been in operation in Gargazon. What’s so special about it? The Gargazon Natural Bath represents a unique natural recreational landscape and makes use of absolutely no chemicals in purifying the water. The secret of this natural, pure water is in the plants. Half of the total water surface of 2,230 square meters is encompassed by a natural and simultaneously very useful plant regeneration zone. Guests can enjoy the – literally – purest and most-natural bathing experience in the remaining approx. 1,000 square meters!
A Natural Overall Concept
In the Gargazon Natural Bath, the community of Gargazon has consistently implemented a sustainable project. The total avoidance of the use of fossil fuels to heat the bathing water improves the overall CO2 balance. The shower water is heated exclusively through the use of solar collectors. The service building with its natural colors serves as a trademark visible even from a distance. The natural modeling of the green areas creates a harmonious natural scene.
Can Be Reached with Environmentally Friendly Vehicles: By Bicycle, Bus, & Rail
The new natural bathing ponds are situated in Gargazon’s sports zone, in the immediate vicinity of the train station and directly next to the district bicycle path along the Etsch/Adige dam. The Gargazon Natural Bath is thus convenient to visit even without a car: You can come by such environmentally friendly means as the bicycle, bus, or rail.
